More Blog Posts = More Traffic and More Leads

March 21, 2017by smartguys

As more companies add blog posts to their websites, a question comes up. How many blogs posts are enough? What is the right amount to attract customers to the site?

The stats clearly show that some blogging is better than no blogging. A 2017 infographic from Red Website Design highlights that content marketing generates 3x more leads than traditional marketing. Businesses that use content marketing get 6x more conversions than businesses that don’t, it also says. Moving from zero content marketing (which includes blog posts) to anything more will help your business expand leads and conversions.

Recent stats from HubSpot suggest that more blogging is much better than less blogging too. HubSpot analyzed both the number of leads and the amount of traffic for their 13,500+ customers. In both business to business (B2B) and business to consumer (B2C) more blogs posts lead to more traffic and more leads. Here are the stats:

“Companies that published 16+ blog posts per month got almost 3.5X more traffic than companies that published 0-4 monthly posts.”

Yup, HubSpot says companies that post more regularly can increase their traffic by 3.5X. Publishing 16+ blog posts per month may seem like 3.5X more work than publishing 4 blog posts. However, content marketing costs 62% less traditional marketing, according to Red Website Design. Therefore it may be worth finding more room in your budget for these additional posts.Maybe it’s worth it to outsource some writing, like 64% of B2B marketers do. It will pay off in increased traffic volume.

Does this traffic actually translate to customers? HubSpot would suggest yes.

“Companies that published 16+ blog posts per month got about 4.5X more leads than companies that published 0-4 monthly posts.”

The increase in leads per number of blog posts is actually higher than the increase in traffic. Impressive! Blog posts are an effective way to convert viewers into customers.

One the key points that HubSpot likes to highlight is that the benefits grow as the number of posts grow. In 2015, HubSpot analyzed its old posts and found that 75% of blog views and 90% of blog leads came from old posts. Those old posts are useful for years to come.

Businesses that want to draw customers in with relevant information can benefit from creating a lot of content. The stats seem to show that more content leads to more traffic and more leads. Publishing 16+ posts per month is a marketing investment, but it’s likely to pay off now and for years to come.
